As part of building our learning community, we spent some time discussing what makes a Great Classmate! Working in groups, the students brainstormed what a great classmate is, does, says and is not. Here are some of the student's ideas: A Great Classmate Is... Responsible, cares about people, friendly, kind, respectful, nice, helpful A Great Classmate Does... Work together, talks nicely, listens, is helpful, shares, cooperates A Great Classmate Is Not... A bully, secret teller, mean, rude, puts down others, takes things that isn't theirs, selfish All of the student's ideas have been compiled into a Class Promise, which our class will abide by. Our Promise to Each Other
When we care about each other and our classroom, we share what we have, listen carefully, help each other learn, work hard and have fun together. We understand that everyone makes mistakes, that we stand up for ourselves and others, and when someone asks us to stop, we stop. This is who we are even when no one is watching!
